- Product and business strategy

Project Sherbet
Project Sherbet was the initial scoping exercise to assess the feasibility of a joint venture between BBC Worldwide, ITV and Channel 4.
This phase allowed shareholders to make a decision to pursue what became Project Kangaroo (and more recently, SeeSaw). The study investigated the options for the video on demand initiative, weighing up the available technologies, the marketplace and user base, to ensure the long term viability of such an ambitious venture. Capablue guided this initial development, always taking into account business, customer and technology needs.
We were thrilled that when the programme kicked off, Capablue were invited to take key roles in the new team.
Channel 4 - 4oD TV
In parallel to developing 4oD for web, Capablue managed the implementation of on-demand services for television.
Working across organisational boundaries with three large television platforms – Virgin, BT Vision and Tiscali, Capablue supported three different sets of requirements, consolidating them to a single syndication platform for Channel 4.
Our team managed the overall programme, coordinating activity between Channel 4 teams and the VOD platform suppliers. We defined the interface and business requirements for the services, oversaw development and tested the output to ensure it met the original specifications.
Channel 4 – 4oD Web
Our team worked with Channel 4 to develop 4oD, the service that lets users download, stream and view video content over the internet. Implementing an on-demand platform alongside C4’s existing linear operations required a complete review of operations across the channel.
We formed the core programme team and were responsible for defining the product and platform requirements as well as the user experience and design. Throughout the implementation, we managed all the project work, involving internal and external suppliers, and completed user acceptance testing prior to launch.
