Scottish broadcaster STV has launched its VoD service on Sony PlayStation®3 (PS3™) consoles using Capablue's Connected platform.
STV’s VoD free-to-view catch up service is available to internet connected Sony PS3 consoles. Using Connected, Capablue’s platform for the rapid development and deployment of video sites, STV provides a fast, immediate VoD service with user-centric content discovery.
PS3 users can stream their favourite shows from STV soon after they’ve aired on terrestrial TV. They can also personalise the home page based on their preferences and view recommended content.Alistair Brown, Head of Digital at STV, said:
“The move onto PS3 marks a significant step forward for STV in our STV Anywhere strategy where we seek to make our content available to our audiences whenever and wherever they want it. Sony recently reported that there are 4 million PS3 consoles in the UK with 80% connected to the internet and we are keen to make our content available to this potential audience. We were impressed with Capablue's plans for Connected and are delighted to be using this system to distribute our content to PS3 games players in Scotland.”
Tom Cape, managing director of Capablue, said:
“We developed Connected to integrate simply with a user’s own platform, eliminating the cost and time required for companies to build their own systems. PS3 users represent a significant percentage of the viewing public and I am very pleased that STV has chosen Connected to deliver its VoD service to this audience.”
